Carry-on baggage rules at popular airlines
The dimensions and weight of carry-on baggage vary from one airline to another. For example, at LOT Polish Airlines the dimensions are 55 cm x 40 cm x 23 cm. On budget flights, such as Ryanair or Wizz Air, the size of a small bag or backpack is 40 cm x 20 cm x 25 cm and 40 cm x 30 cm x 20 cm respectively.
Your carry-on baggage must not contain items such as razor blades, knives and scissors, syringes and needles, corkscrews or exposed blades, with the exception of disposable razors. In addition, there is a limit on the amount of liquids and gels, as well as cosmetics purchased before entering the duty-free zone. The total is 1 litre in containers no larger than 100 ml, and all containers holding liquids must fit inside a transparent bag.
There are exceptions for liquid prescription medication, which is exempt from the volume limits and may be carried in larger quantities (over 100 ml), provided it is essential during the journey for health reasons. Such medication must be declared separately during the security check.
What can you pack in your carry-on bag? Don't forget your documents
Among the documents you should always carry with you are an ID card or passport. They are essential, especially on international journeys, where a passport is a mandatory document. In addition, it is worth carrying documents that prove your entitlement to discounts, such as a school, student or pensioner ID. These may be required to take advantage of various reductions, for example when buying public transport tickets or entry to museums and other tourist attractions.
Can you keep a phone charger in your carry-on bag?
Passengers often wonder: "can I keep a charger in my carry-on bag?". Many airlines allow certain electronic items to be carried as additional carry-on luggage. These items include a laptop in a bag along with accessories such as a power adapter, as well as other small devices like a phone, a charger or a music player. It is also worth packing a power bank in your carry-on bag, which may come in handy on trips. However, there are certain limits on their capacity for transport - they usually must not exceed 100 Wh.
Packing clothes in your carry-on bag
How should you pack your carry-on bag? Most people fold their clothes into neat squares, trying to arrange them tidily in a suitcase or backpack. However, a more efficient method is to roll your clothing. This helps you save precious space in your bag.
When choosing clothes for your trip, it is worth paying attention to how practical they are. It is a good idea to pick items that are easy to care for, do not need ironing and suit the weather conditions at your destination.
Essential toiletries in your carry-on bag
When packing your carry-on bag, it is important not to forget basic toiletries. These include a toothbrush and toothpaste. Shower gel and shampoo are just as important. In addition, it is worth taking a towel, which can be used not only after a shower but also in other situations, for example at the beach or during outdoor activities.
Can you bring food in your carry-on bag?
When travelling within European Union member states, there are certain guidelines regarding the snacks and drinks you may take with you in your carry-on bag.
As far as food is concerned, various types of snacks are allowed, such as cakes, sweets, crisps, as well as baby food (it is worth noting, however, that baby food is not subject to a quantity limit, but it must be declared for a separate check at the airport).
If you plan to bring sausage, cold cuts, canned meat, fruit, vegetables, foodstuffs in cans or jars, powdered instant soups, sandwiches or nuts, all of these are accepted.
As for drinks and liquid products, the limits mentioned earlier apply. You may carry a total of 1 litre of liquids in your carry-on bag, but they must be divided into containers with a maximum capacity of 100 ml each.
How to make yourself comfortable on long flights?
It is worth packing your carry-on bag thoughtfully and carefully, so that your journey is comfortable and trouble-free. On top of that, long hours spent on a plane can be tiring, which is why you can put together a suitable kit that will help you get through the journey comfortably.
A travel pillow is one of the essential items in such a kit. With it, you can support your head and neck in the right position, which makes it easier to relax and fall asleep during the flight.
A book is a perfect companion on a journey. You can immerse yourself in an engaging read - a relaxing thriller or an interesting novel - to make the time more pleasant. It is also worth taking headphones with you so you can enjoy your favourite music or podcasts.
